Teaching is the dance partner of learning

Waltzing hand in hand toward growth, particularly in the areas of coaching, mindfulness, public speaking, accountability, leadership.

Why do I teach?

I want to leave something behind when I’m done. And let’s be honest, I can’t really help myself.

Why should you be taught?

Why Not? If you think something about my experience or competence might help you then I’ll teach you as best I can. Or perhaps you are just one of those people who likes to learn stuff; a growth mindset as Carol Dweck would say.

How do I teach?

With heart

I love to teach. What can I say? I pour my heart into it.

With the learner as my focus

I’m not interested in a curriculum, only your needs. Both what you want to learn and how you are wired to learn best - these are things that occupy me.

Experientially where possible

Embodied practice sounds grand, but it’s in the DNA of my teaching. Trying stuff out, refining and playing, failing and learning - a great set of active verbs.

By learning

My own learning is often only one step ahead of my teaching, at most. I love to learn and so I always have something to teach.

What other people think…

  • "Nick taught me to master my mindset. He’s good at that."

  • “For such a serious subject, it was so much fun."

  • “When Nick taught me silent meditation, I realised he’s no better than me at it. But that’s the point.”

  • “Nick teaches drama like a naughty schoolboy."

  • "Nick has good chemistry but can’t teach it."

Thoughts

I enjoy sharing the contents of my mind in the hope others can get something from the stuff that occupies me. Here I’ve categorised my writing into resources, tools and models that might help, reviews of other people’s work, reflections of my own past experiences and ramblings on a variety of topics that interest me.
